What you’ll study as an international studies major
International Studies is inherently interdisciplinary, tapping into a wide range of disciplines in the humanities, social sciences, and arts. This major enables you to view your academic interests — the world, its people, and the challenges they face — from multiple perspectives.
Discover Interdisciplinary Lenses
Study key concepts of globalization while learning specific cultural, political, and economic theories within contemporary and historical frameworks. Core courses give you tools, frameworks, and methodologies for further exploration.
Select a Focus
Gain expertise in a topic and region of your choice, including: Ethics and Justice, Development and Sustainability, Media and Cultural Production, Migration and Displacement, and Social Movements. Explore your focus in our global research methods course.
Demonstrate your Mastery
Integrate courses, off-campus study, and language training as you synthesize global forces and your senior capstone, to showcase how people living in their unique sociocultural and political-economic situations shape, and are shaped by those forces.
