What you’ll study as an East Asian Studies major
Preparing students for an increasingly interrelated world, the East Asian Studies major focuses on comparative understanding of the traditional cultures and values of East Asia, as well as the region’s complex history and contemporary challenges.
Start building a strong foundation
Through our core courses, explore fundamental concepts, developments, and trends in the history, languages, art, and culture of East Asia. Begin developing language competency in Chinese or Japanese.
Broaden your knowledge
In the spirit of the liberal arts, take a range of elective courses, selected from a variety of departments, that focus on the East Asian region. Progress to an intermediate level of language study.
Deepen your understanding
Study abroad to experience East Asia firsthand and take your language skills to the next level. As a senior, dive into a research project tailored to your specific interests, in close consultation with one of your professors.
